Curious World Maps 3d controls

World Maps 3D Animator gives you total control over the resolution of both the model mesh and the texture. You can customize the style of the map completely, and World Maps automatically uses the highest detailed relief data available to construct the model. You can add lighting, fog and a selection of skies to give your animation added realism.

With 3D Animator, you can also add optional high-resolution satellite imagery to create the ultimate in detailed realism. World Maps automatically registers the correct area of the satellite image to the relief model, allowing instant creation of stunning fly-throughs. Satellite imagery is now available from Curious Software for all of North America, Europe, the Mid-East, Japan, Australia and many other locations around the world.

Convert and Convert & Combine Options
If you have some of your own satellite data and you want to use it with World Maps, you can ensure that it integrates fully with World Maps’ functionality by converting the data with these optional utilities. The Convert option formats your imagery as Curious Multi-Resolution (CMR) files, allowing them to be used in Curious World Maps in an interactive and memory efficient manner. With the Convert & Combine option, you can combine several geo-referenced satellite images into a single CMR file to make a single large image suited to large-scale views and spectacular animation effects. Convert & Combine also includes tools for image manipulation and color correction to correct variations between the source images.

Paint and Effects
gFx is Curious Software’s paint and effects option for Curious World Maps. Integrated seamlessly within World Maps, the gFx option gives you a broadcast-ready multi-layered paint, rotoscoping, animation and compositing system that brings powerful time-saving features and automation to your desktop. With gFx you can complement your map-making with the capabilities of a full broadcast graphics facility, creating and animating backgrounds, symbols, overlays, cutouts, color-correcting your imagery, adding filters and more.

Imagery on Demand

This option has been developed in partnership with GlobeXplorer the leading provider of satellite images and aerial photography via the Internet; and is ideal for sourcing on-the-spot satellite images to create maps to complement fast-breaking news stories.
