Curious Software a Success for TV Valencia
Spain - June 2003

Spanish television station, TV Valencia, has revamped its existing
system for creating maps for broadcast with an investment in Curious
World Maps, from Curious Software.
Previously, TV Valencia had been relying on Quantel products
for its news and weather transmissions. The lack of specialized
mapping functionality meant that they were faced with the time
consuming task of scanning or photographing paper based images
into a graphics package for manipulation. Needless to say this
didn't always provide a satisfactory outcome.
TV Valencia, a member of the Comunidad Valencia community,
own five large studios and two smaller ones and employs a team
of over 2,500. As well as using Curious World Maps for its local
news and weather broadcasts, TV Valencia has also used the software
in its commercial program schedule, including quiz shows, magazine
programs and reality shows.
Thierry Gonzalo, Head of Operations for the Engineering Department
at TV Valencia, has been impressed by the results of the new
software in terms of both its practicality of use and the final
graphic images produced, he says; "It's not just the graphics,
Curious World Maps includes a comprehensive vector database
and is both fast and easy to use."
Curious World Maps first came to TV Valencia's attention at
IBC. The decision to invest came after demonstration of the
software and its extensive range features.
