Portuguese broadcaster TVI has become the latest in a long line of broadcasters to invest in Curious Software's innovative map creation package, Curious World Maps.
Already in use in the broadcast graphics departments of CNN, ABC, BBC, Sky, CBC and many more, Curious World Maps is fast becoming an industry standard because it enables designers and editors to create highly detailed, broadcast quality maps with ease.
Broadcasters choosing Curious World Maps can customise the style of their maps, allowing them to produce illustrations that are unique to their station. Users have complete control over colours, textures, fonts, label styles, road and street styles, relief, sea textures, lighting, shadows and many other features. These settings can be saves as templates to guarantee consistency of look and station branding.
TVI, based in Lisbon, is a commercial television station broadcasting a range of programming. Rui Jorge Ribeiro, head of the Design department, uses Curious World Maps on a daily basis to create maps for news and weather bulletins. He says: "We were given a demo of the software by the company's reseller, VANTeC, after initially making enquiries through the Curious website. We now create up to three maps a day with Curious. It is an extremely quick and easy way to generate illustrations for specific news stories and we have found it to be a very stable software that frees up time for other design tasks."
Curious World Maps is now available in both Server and Local Edition formats and will be showing new products at this year IBC exhibition in Amsterdam in September.
